Iris Folding Cards

Playing around with iris folding.  This is going to be the project for our local Paper Arts Club class this week.  It is fun and relaxing.  Only struggle is picking your papers!  There are so many pretty papers out there!  Check it out!

Found a free pattern on the internet from circleofcrafters.comTypically you would just hand trace and cut the template out but I had too many to cut.  I had to import into my Cricut. That was a challenge!  I also reversed the original orientation of the boot.  Here is the original pattern.  With iris folding you are placing your paper on the pattern so when you are done you flip it to put it on your card base so the boot will be facing the opposite way.  I liked the boot going to the right so I flipped it.

Sorry the pictures are bad.  Still have not perfected taking pictures of completed projects.

I hope our class likes the project!  We love learning new techniques!

Penguin Christmas Card

Each year I need to make a special Christmas card for my sister-in-law who loves penguins!
I got a kit from Krazy Kreations from Scrapbook Expo this year and here is how it turned out.  I had to use my alcohol makers again and this time I did do some blending for the penguin body but everything else is just colored in.  I love how it turned out, hope she does too!

Cards for the November Home Class

Here are my cards we will be doing for our November Home Class.  I decided one of the cards was going to be a 3D project and found a luminara on Pinterest to try.  It was easy and I think so cute!  Check it out!

Now onto the cards!  I hope they like them!

I think some gems could be added to the snowflakes!

Used my Shin Han Alcohol Markers

Love the southwest look!

I still have to work on coloring.  I did not do any blending with the markers, I just can't seem to get that down,  I can with my Spectrum Noir Pencils!

Christmas Shadow Box

I recently purchased a shadowbox die from a company called scrapbookingmadesimple.com
The dies that came with it can also be used for cards but the shadowbox really caught my eye!  They also had some Christmas dies I purchased so I used them also along with my Cricut machine for the presents.

Here is what I have done with it so far!

You can make it stand or hang it on a wall. This has so many possibilities!

Updated Card Buffet!

Updated the card buffet for our local Paper Arts Club.  Added  a Christmas Card and a Get Well Card.  For the Christmas Card I used a new embossing folder I got called "I Believe" from crafterschampion.  I did this one without any help from pinterest.  I tried different techniques inking the embossing folder on one side and the other.  Did not like it.  So I just inked the mat after I embossed it and I liked the look of it.  Used the diffuser from CTMH so I could stamp on the mat and I also used CTMH Woodland Wishes for the sentiment outside and the die to cut the banner.  Let me know what you think!

I also updated the get well card for the card buffet so here is the new one!

I think it is so cute!

October Home Class Cards!

Had so much fun making this months card class samples!  I am still practicing water coloring and using my colored pencils.  I went out of my comfort zone.
My first card, I water colored on cotton rag paper I had in my stash.  I like the look of it.  Once it drys it lays flat.  I used Hooked on You stamp set B1535 and the CTMH water color palette.

The next card I used my colored pencil from Spectrum Noir.  I have better application when I used gamsol to blend the colors together. Still a work in progress!  I used a stamp set from Art Impressions I bought at Scrapbook Expo!  What a day that was!!!  If you ever get a chance to go to Scrapbook Expo, don't pass it up!

Using Stamp set C1653 Hymns of Praise, I made this next card with the influence of Pinterest.  Oh Deer! Paper Pack, Juniper Cardstock and the new Snowflake thin cut with some gold shimmer trim and some bling from stash finished this so beautifully!

The last card is also a Christmas card using the City Sidewalks Paper Packet and the
Cozy Christmas Thin Cuts Bundle.  I love how it turned out!

Let me know what you think!

Christmas Joy!

Got the Cut Above 'Tis the Season Card Kit Z4018 for our local club.  It's a quick and easy card but I think very nice.  The sentiment used was from a retired stamp called This is Christmas and on the inside a matching sprig was stamped from a retired set called Miracle of Christmas.  The inside sentiment was from the current set D1694 Very Merry.
So here it is! I hope you like it!

Flower Market Cricut Cartridge Thanks Card

I saw this card from Julie Carriere, thescrapzone.blogspot.ca and just had to make it!  I really like the colors and so liking the CTMH Flower Market Cricut Cartridge.  The NEW Thanks Thin Cuts works great on the Gold glitter paper.   Used also the NEW Sea Glass Paper with the vellum from the Uptown Fundamentals Paper Packet and the NEW Simple Chevron Embossing Folder.
I like the white on white with a touch of gold.

WiseGuy Happy Birthday

I wanted to use a ribbon from the Rustic Home collection so when I saw a card by Gail Gross from greetingsfromgail.blogspot.com, I knew that was the perfect fit.  I made my own version using C1662 Wiseguy Birthday and D1700 Way to Go; with Pomegranate; Flaxen and Sapphire Inks along with a paper from the Adventure Fundamentals Paper Packet.

You can't tell from the picture but I also used the NEW Shimmer Brush on the cake layers.  I think I did pretty good at stamping the cake layers and stand onto the Cricut cut from the Artistry Cartridge.  It's always hard to line the stamp up to the Cricut cut.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you liked the card!

Thanksgiving Blessings!

Up and onward to Thanksgiving!  Love Fall!  Got a new stamp set called Swirly Bird from my local Stampin' Up consultant.  Pinterest has loads of ideas using this set, it is so popular.  When looking, I thought I could use fall colors and this is what I came up with.

The background leaves and sentiment are from a retired stamp set from Stampin' Up called Thanksgiving Blessings.  I used CTMH Fern ink for the leaves using the rocking technique in CTMH Cocoa ink and stamped it on the White Daisy mat.  Used the NEW Shimmer Brush on the leaves just to give them a little sparkle but the picture doesn't show it.  Then I stamped the big swirl in CTMH Cocoa and CTMH Desert Sand on top of the leaves.  Then I took the matching dies and cut one large swirl from Cocoa cardstock and 2 smaller ones in Desert Sand cardstock.  Glued the smaller swirls down and then popped up the larger swirl.  The inside sentiment is from a retired CTMH stamp set called Blessings of Autumn(sorry no picture) in CTMH Fern ink.  I also stamped the smaller swirl inside in with both colors on the bottom right.

Hope you like my version using this cute stamp set.

My Favorite Time of the Year is Starting - Halloween!

Fall is my favorite time of the year starting with Halloween and Thanksgiving!
Then you know what that means....Christmas!!!!
Well...back to Halloween!  Sorry the picture is blurry!
I used the Martha Stewart Drippy Goo Edger Punch I have had for a few years but never used until now on black glitter paper!  I know I got this idea from Pinterest using the Drippy Goo punch but the rest is my version.  The ghost came from a retired stamp set from Stampin' Up called Fall Fest.   I stamped the ghost on black cardstock with Versamark ink and embossed it with Ranger's Holographic Embossing Powder.  I also stamped the ghost and embossed with white embossing powder but like the holographic one.  Added my homemade black enamel dots for eyes.  Retired paper from CTMH for the strip on top.  The sentiment inside and out came from an old stamp set I got from Pink By Design called Ghostly Greetings. Tangelo Twist from Stampin' Up is my ink color of choice.

I think it turned out really spooky!  Love it!

Flip Flaps Shaker Card

I have always wanted to try a shaker card using our CTMH Flip Flaps, so I finally ordered some and started to play.   I only ordered the 3x3 so I had some work to do to see what I could do.  I used a paper from the Oh Deer! paper packet and used my Cricut to cut out a leaf for the opening.  I am loving the new Flower Market Cricut Cartridge  from CTMH.  I filled the flip flap with sequins from my stash and backed it with another paper from Rustic Home Fundamentals Paper.  I used the SOTM Blessed Beyond Measure for the sentiment and a few more sequins for embellishments. I used the new Tangerine Ink. I will need to get a bigger size of the Flip Flaps for larger windows but for my first time I think it was not too bad!  I did use foam tape to pop it up behind so it had room to shake but this was still easier than using acetate windows(which I have not given up working on).

Get Well Soon Card!

I finally came up with a card design without looking at Pinterest!  If it has been done before I apologize. I just looked at the stamp sets and played and played and played until I came up with this!

I used stamp sets
B1543 Get Better &
C1608 Brushstrokes.

I wanted to use the Get Better set but wasn't sure what to do with it.  I looked through my storage box of current stamps and saw Brushstrokes, which I forgot I had.  Not sure if I ever used it.  Tried different angles and came up with this.
I used the new stamp colors: Lemon;  Emerald(which I really like); Pansy; Raspberry and the original Pacifica.  Its hard to see but I used the Pacifica Mini Pigment ink for the front sentiment and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Needed some bling so I used Bitty Sparkles on the sides.  It was matted with a paper from the Adventure Fundamentals Paper Packet. I used White Daisy Cardstock for the card base and mat that was stamped on.  I think it turned out pretty good!

Using CTMH NEW Fundamental Papers

I love the new Fundamental Papers we have at CTMH!  Here are a few of the cards we made at a class I held.  Pinterest inspired!

On the first card I used a pattern paper from the Enchantment Fundamentals(Z3254).
The sentiment is from the New stamp set called All the Thanks (B1536).
The flower came from the NEW Cricut Cartridge called Flower Market(Z3285).

I have been drawn to this cartridge lately.  Has some great, fresh images for just about every occasion.

The second card used the NEW Rustic Home Fundamentals Collection (Z3262) and our NEW Nature's Wish Stamp set (D1703) and Hooked on You (B1535).

Really happy with the new stamp sets and paper collection.  Needed something for the men in our lives!

Hope you liked the cards.  Thanks for stopping by!
