Water-Based Dye Ink Markers vs Alcohol Ink Markers

Took a class at my friend's, Cheryl Goode, to learn more on using markers and alcohol inks to color our stamped images.  We practiced various ways to use our markers with the blending pen and aqua painter.  Alcohol markers starting from dark to light and light to dark method.  I have to say I don't mind using either the blending pen or aqua painter but I am not sure if markers are for me.  I did not like the lines in the flowers and lanterns.  I tried different ways to do the lines but I just could not get the hang of it.  So more practice is definitely needed with that technique.  The alcohol ink markers were a little easier and I have found for me I like doing the light to dark method.  The image below is our practice sheet:

We had a "final" exam after a few hours of practice and here are the 2 cards I made!

Sorry the pictures are not that great, I am still trying to learn using my camera in manual mode!

A surprising find in a cabinet!

Wow..still cleaning out my craft room and what to my surprise....I uncovered a pattern for a card that I totally forgot about.   Many, many years ago, I took a monthly card/scrapbook class, called Book of the Month Club at my local scrapbook store ( which is closed now) Boohoo!  The class challenged us to use new techniques and products that we may not normally use or do.  What I found is what they called the star card and included in the kit the paper to make it.  Guess I never did the card part of the class!  LOL!!!  I know we now can do this with our Cricut or Silhouette or any die-cut machine you may own but at that time you had to do this the old fashion way!!   Here is what I did!

Products used: Frame was cut from Cricut Alphabet Cartridge; Happy Birthday sentiment and stars and cupcake are from the CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy Collection

The sentiment on the front came from CTMH Cricut Artiste Collection
Pattern paper is from a discontinued collection called Lollydoodle; solid papers are Lagoon and White Daisy and they are available.  Gems on the front were from my stash as well as the twine that was used to hang the cupcake from the middle of the card fold.

Here's the page from the book we were given:

Cards! Cards! Cards!

I just love when I go to a card-making class and get to do the unexpected.  Thanks to Karla McCully, that's what happened.  She really does a great job coming up with new ideas!  I wish I had her creativity!  On the following cards we used sponge daubers to ink the glitter paper die-cuts and popped up the flowers on the embossed mats.

We also did 2 specialty folded cards. Stamped a variety of flowers, some were embossed with embossing powder and on the leaves we used an embossing folder to give them the "real" look. Added some cute butterflies and the sentiment!  Love how they both turned out.

I unexpectedly had to go to a 50th wedding anniversary party, so I decided to use one of these cards to give to them. Here's how it turned out!

Thursday Card Class

I attended a card class on Thursday at my friends, Cheryl Goode, and we made 2 cards, a box and a special project of making a flower out of coffee filters.  That was so awesome!  I have never seen that done before!  I am sure others have but I was amazed!  Thank you Cheryl!  I sure hope I remember how to do it again!  I definitely will be trying this again!  Watch for the results!!!!!!!
Oh, and we also used fringe scissors to create the card on the right!  I used to own those scissors but never could figure out what to do with them so I gave them to my granddaughter...maybe I need to get them back!! LOL!

Create 6 cards with one sheet of 12x12 pattern paper

Did you ever guess you could create 6 cards from one sheet of 12x12 pattern paper?  Well, I have to admit I would never have thought of that!  Thanks to Janene, a fellow CTMH representative,  I can now.  I put my own spin on it!  I wanted 6 different cards and Janene did 3 designs, 2 cards each.

The star pattern paper I used dictated how I decorated the cards. The die-cut stars were cut from the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge and I also cut the star out on the Cricut stamp material to make my own size stamps.  I used those on the banner of the last card and tried the cluster stamping technique I showed on an earlier post. I also used that same stamp on the first card on the top and put gems in the middle of them to make them pop.  The Happy Birthday and Celebrate stamp was also from the Art Philosophy collection.
The first card's arrow stamp and the sentiment for the four card came from the CTMH Artbooking Cricut Collection .
The sentiment for the last card came from the CTMH Artiste Cricut Collection.
The thank you sentiment on the first card came from Banner Wishes stamp set B1438.
I know I jumped around on stamp sets but they just seem to fit the mood I was in or direction I was going with the card.
I never said I do anything easy!  LOL!!
I had fun and can't wait to try it out on some other pattern paper!

If you are interested in any of the stamp sets I used, please check out my website.  You can also download a PDF version on our new catalog here.

What to do with this stamp?

In cleaning out my scrap-room and trying to declutter, I found a stamp I bought a long time ago and never did anything with.  Actually I found several stamps I never worked with.  LOL!!  This one I decided to try and do something with along with practicing my coloring skills.  Not sure I like it..any suggestions as to what to do with this would be great!  It is a big stamp so I had to do a 5x7 card.  I normally do A2 size cards.

Wedding Box Card

Did another box card but this was for a special occasion,  My best friend's daughter is getting married and I wanted to do something none traditional and fun.  I bought a file from the Silhouette Studio store #61760 and modified it.  Using the Silhouette Cameo is so easy.  The cardstock used for the card base is from CTMH X5930 Slate.  Miscellaneous scraps for the bride and groom and the rings.  I used a gem for the diamond in the ring instead of the cut that came with the file.  CTMH Hollyhock #1246 was used for the heart. It matched the other accent papers that are now discontinued from CTMH called Lollydoodle.  I am going to put the sentiment on the white mat on the one flap.  I really like the bright whimsey colors.

Happy Haunting!

Used the Creepy Creatures stamp set C1522 again and made this card using a new technique I found yesterday.  It is a special fold card called Dutch fold.  It may not be new to you all but it is to me.  I found it on YouTube . I also stamped the ghost and scanned it into my silhouette cameo and did a cut file so I did not have to fussy cut it.  Practice..Practice...

Inside sentiment was from the stamp set called Trick or Treat from CARDZTV  stamps.

Creepy Creatures

I just had to make this Halloween card with the new stamp set from Close To My Heart called Creepy Creatures C1522. The idea came from the new Close To My Heart annual inspiration catalog.  You can view a PDF version here.  I also stamped the bats and scanned the image in so I could cut them out from my silhouette cameo machine instead of doing a fussy cut.  It would have taken forever!!!!!
They are so tiny.  I think it turned out great!
Check out my website for this or any other items you may be looking for.

With a minimum qualifying purchase, you can get the  D-size Stamp of the Month set for a discounted price! Cards made from the Workshops on the Go® Pathfinding Cardmaking Kit

Ok, here are the cards I did using the new Workshops on the Go® Pathfinding Cardmaking Kit.
Did a few minor changes like adding an extra seguin to card 2 and 3. Distressed the edges to the banner on card 3 and the sentiment mat on card 1 and 2.  I see a few mistakes but I think they turned out pretty good.  As I always say: It makes them one of a kind!

Post-it Note Holder

Thanks to Karla McCully, I have recreated from her example my version of a post-it note holder.  I only have one alphabet stamp set so it is truly not the best but using scraps, I have managed to develop the pattern and hopefully will show it to our community Paper Arts Club and see if there is any interest in this project.  Always looking for new ideas for the club.

The alphabet stamp set used is Hopscotch Alphabet from CTMH  Item Number: E1028
